5 Reasons To Check Out The Korg Monotron
Analog synths first came out decades ago. Even though companies are still producing modern models they all share similar features and sounds. Somehow, Korg has redefined affordable, analog synths with the Monotron. Throughout the history of popular music, Korg has continually released enormously successful synthesizers. Even among these classics, the Monotron is distinctive. I assume you’ll agree, these 5 features make the Korg Monotron a really extraordinary analog synthesizer.
Korg Monotron = Excellent Analog Tones
To begin with, the Monotron shares the indentical filter architecture as Korg’s classic analog synth, the MS-20. This filter path gives the Monotron a deepness of tone that you just have to hear to believe. You can’t imagine the level of analog might this little demon puts out.
It’s Small And Portable
I’ve never owned a synthesizer that I could stuff in my pocket and take with me anywhere I wanted to go. Battery-powered and on-board speaker, what more could you ask for? It really doesn’t get any easier. You don’t need anything else to create music with the Monotron. There is also a headphone jack so that you can operate without disturbing those around you. Running the stereo output of the Monotron into another devices opens up worlds of sonic opportunities.
Slip And Slide On The Ribbon Controller
The experience of performing with a ribbon controller is different from anything else you’ve ever tried. You will find that the ribbon helps you twist and sweep notes like never before. You’ll likely never want to go back to a keyboard controller after listening what you can accomplish with the ribbon.
Full-On Analog Effects
I adore this more than anything else about the Monotron. Right next to the headphone jack on the back of the synth is an Aux Input jack. This jack sort of turns the Korg into a modular synthesizer in that you can feed any audio through it’s filter path. Your Monotron has now just morphed into a very terrific effects unit.
Real-time filtering of drum loops and vocals is so much fun. Instantly, these source sounds are transported into a different realm of creative sound design. Be cautious though, once you’ve heard this the Monotron will have you under enchantment. Personally, I have wasted entire weekends mutilating loops through my Monotron.
It’s A Steal For Under $70
I’ll repeat myself, less than $70. All of your favorite music stores are carrying them. Outstanding sound, little size, this thing is the complete package. Don’t overlook the Korg Monotron.
