Dying Young: Aimless youthful lady replies to a newspaper ad and becomes nurse/friend to a 28-year old rich kid who’s stricken with leukemia. Eventually they fall in love. As perfect stage for Roberts’ charms and as love tale it has its good moments. Cast includes Julia Roberts, Scott, Vincent Donofrio, David Selby, and Ellen Bursty. (105 minutes,’91)

Airplane: Extremely ludicrous spoof of Airport with a nonstop amount of gags that keeps up almost to the end. Our top choice: the bizarre plight of Lt. Hurwitz. Stay tuned through the very last credits. Cast includes Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Robert Pile, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Leslie Nielsen, Loma Patterson, and Stephen Stucker. Shining Through: Shining Through is movie is set in WWII. Linda Voss is a legal secretary with a Jewish relative in Germany. She figures out her boss is working for the government on covert operations. She wants to help, and she speaks German. She eventually gets an assignment to go undercover in Germany. What will her fate be?

Down with Love: Spoof of the’60s Doris Day-Rock Hudson comedies has Zellweger as the writer of a most popular novel on female rights in a battle of the genders with playboy/publication author McGregor. Cast includes Renee Zellweger, Ewan McGregor, David Hyde’ Perforate, Sarah Paulson, Tony Randall, Lei Ryan, and Rachel Dratch. (94 minutes, 2003)

Spungen: Director Cox accomplishes a masterful level of a documentary-reality. He then laces it with metaphorical fantasy icons, with striking outcomes. At the center of the film are two incredible performances by Goldman and Webb, who don’t appear to be acting at all: They are Sid and Nancy. The movie is a downer, to be certain, however captivating.
