La Provinciale: Exceptional venture fantasy in reference to an orphan gal who is chased by sky pirates and a malevolent government representative who wants to get their hands on the supernatural quartz that permits her to float and also keeps the secret to finding a treasure, a full island in the clouds. Stunning visuals, exhilarating set pieces and gripping characters make this a masterpiece of action film making; energized or otherwise, empowering a real sense of amazement. Cast includes Anna Paquin, Cloris Leachman, Mark Hamill, Mandy Patinkin, and Andy Dick. (124 minutes, 1986)

A Few Good Men: Two Marines are being held responsible for the death of a fellow marine. They claim they were ordered to punish private Santiago, and his death was not intended. Lt. Daniel Kaffee will try to save the marines and get to the bottom of the case.

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm: Formulaic film in regards to spunky gal who’s sent to live with her 2 abrasive aunts; mixes emotion, melodrama, and comedy, although it needs the spontaneity and kindle of other Pickford films. Cast includes Mary Pickford, Eugene O’Brien, Josephine Crowen, and Helen Jerome Eddy. (71 minutes, 1917)

Night Must Fade: Cerebral effort to match the original, this redo is too apparent and theatrical for any credibility. Cast includes Albert Finney, Susan Hampshire, Mona Washbourne, Sheila Hancock, Michael Medwin, Joe Gladwin, and Martin Wyldeck. (105 minutes, 1964)

The Abyss: A nuclear sub has gone down. The government seeks assistance, from nearby oil workers, in their investigation. When they go down to investigate, they make a shocking discovery. There are mysterious things in the depths of the oceans.

Jury of One: Trudging melodrama in reference to a lady who goes to shocking extremes to defend her child who is on trial for murder and rape. Gabin plays the magistrate. Cast includes Sophia Loren, Jean Gabin, Henri Garcin, Julien Bertheau, and Michel Albertini. (97 minutes, 1974)
