The Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1999 by a small group of mosaic artists who wanted a venue to share their knowledge, expertise, and interest in mosaic art ” this most ancient of art forms which is experiencing a significant contemporary revival.

Their vision is to educating, inspiring, and promoting excellence in fine mosaic art. To attract and retain members that exemplify excellence in mosaics; educate artists and the public regarding contemporary and classical mosaic fine art; provide opportunities for creative and professional growth; foster and sustain a mosaic community where members are encouraged to explore the full potential of the art.

On February 28 to April 26 SAMA will hold a Mosaic Art International juried exhibition. This exhibition is in connection with SAMA vision that will feature outstanding mosaic arts created by its members. It will showcase the best in contemporary mosaics from SAMA’s diverse international membership. A private reception will be held at Mesa Contemporary Arts on Thursday March 22 from 6:00PM-7:00PM; with a free public reception from 7-9 pm. Mesa Contemporary Arts at Mesa Arts Center is located at 1 E. Main St. in Downtown Mesa Ariz.

Mosaic Art International juried exhibition will unite compelling materials, innovative design, and masterful technique currently explored by mosaic artists. The exhibit will also showcase 62 pieces selected from397 entries by artists from six countries.

Abstract and representational, functional and decorative is the subject matter that mosaic artists around the world has been demonstrating in their tremendous quality of work. Mosaic artists have at their fingertips a nearly infinite palette of color, materials, and texture. The members innovation and mastery of mosaic techniques should make the Mosaic Arts International Exhibit a must-see, not just for art lovers but for interior designers, architects and others in the building and design trades.
