Band Live – Wedding Day To Remember!

As far as musical entertainment at weddings is concerned a live wedding band is really quite hard to beat and should definitely be considered as an option.

Do you have a good band? Live wedding entertainment could be an avenue you or your band may not have considered.

Weddings provide a high level of income for you and the band and also give your client the “wedding couple” live entertainment that will make their special day go out with a bang.

Good communication is always key in circumstances like a wedding as the couple will probably have some songs they would like to request. Particularly the first dance, so try to be as accommodating as possible and be willing to learn a couple of new songs if necessary.

As far as building up a reputation is concerned, many leads may come as a result of a good performance so its advisable to have an information pack put together about the band for potential clients to refer to.

It’s not going to be all plain sailing as far as getting gigs is concerned but to make life easier for yourselves you could sign up with a local agent the details of whom you will find on the Internet and in the local yellow pages. Why not set up your own website or social networking page where you can show people exactly what the band is all about, collect feedback from those who have used you in the past and tell people about the gigs you are playing giving dates, venues and a phone number so they can call you if they need to.

When deciding on a price to charge for a wedding bear in mind the extra preparations needed, the length of time spent on stage and the value of the occasion when coming to a decision on price. Normally a band can expect to charge at least twice the amount they would normally charge at a local pub gig.

Please remember that once you have someone interested in using your services you must bear in mind that many couples book their entertainment months in advance, so make sure you have an up to date gig diary to avoid any double bookings. Before playing at any kind of venue find out what the parking is like as you will probably have heavy equipment to unload and load into the venue. Also make sure the stage you are playing on is big enough for the band.

Overlooking simple things like whether or not the venue has a live music license and it is fitted out with sufficient power outlets to accommodate the instruments can cause all manner of problems for a live band so particular care and attention should be paid to all the details, in order to get things just right.
