Country music as a genre is very popular in the U.S. especially the Southern part. It is also popular in the Canadian Maritimes and there have appeared a grouping of songs overtime that can be considered the best country songs. The 2 top-selling solo artists to exist in the United States were indeed country music singers. This was Elvis Presley and a current performer, Garth Brooks.

Country music had one of its best years in 2006. Country music is said by many to be ageless.
