Great Sound But – Noise Cancelling Headphones Review Review

It is easy to use these cans for long periods of time as the ear pieces are comfortable & compliant. I had forgotten just how good (& well produced) these guys were. I think most people would still prefer the manual controls on the RS140 instead of the RS180s digital controls if they had could try both. This seems to be a sad case where Senheisser tried to ‘upgrade’ the product by installing fancier digital controls, but sacrificed, perhaps unwittingly, usability.

The room in many cases is dark due to the fact that I am watching TV and my wife has gone to bed. The range of transmission is great no problems working and walking around the house. They are on the expensive side, but I’m pleased with them. I’d recommend them for anyone looking for wireless headphones in this price range. But regular pop or rock tunes work just fine, same goes for video games and movies, and that’s good enough for me. Straight forward setup, great sound!

The controls (volume up, volume down, and balance) are small and right next to one another, and I can’t imagine trying to use them with the phones on. It’s very easy to hit the wrong button. Since it cannot process the lossless codecs via bit stream, everything was fed to it as PCM. This caused the receiver to automatically apply its own processing (aptly named Headphone 2CH).

I listen to classical music mostly (90%) along with a bit of rock music and others (10%). To me, it took about 20 hours of listening to break in. So, I decided to keep it as is! It works pretty much as advertised. No interference issues with my home wireless (operates on 2.4-2.8 GHz auto selecting). They have excellent bass response that will actually tickle your ears, depending on what you are listening to of course.

I have never given anything five stars until this product came along. Having previously owned the earlier RS 160, I knew the quality of these “cans.” After shopping around for a new pair I finally decided to give the wireless a try. I really did not want to waste a bunch of money for a lesser model so I went all in with the RS 180′s and I am truly amazed. They have very reasonable range and auto-volume adjusts. NO extraneous noise. After it dried in about an hour, it left those buttons with a raised “bump” that my fingers can easily find. The on/off/standby button is between the volume buttons, so it is now easy to find with my fingers also.

I purchased these headphones thinking these were yet another set of headphones. I usually have a test I use on all my new headphones and speakers, I refer to it as “The Wound” Test. Cool Headphones. The sound is good, although not super rich. I wear them for eleven hours each day. Cool Headphones.
