Guitar Lessons – The Acoustic Guitar Method
This two disc set is like a complete 6 month course in guitar. For the price of, perhaps, a single lesson, you get what amounts to 6 months of lessons from a low-key, funny, and talented teacher.
Find the first chord to learn on the first disc. Turn off the video and practice that chord until you have it down. It won’t be that long before you’re moving on to the next chord to learn. Follow the same practice schedule and you’ll be ready for the next chord.
This is a great set of lessons to fill the holes you have in your guitar education. Self taught players will benefit greatly by taking the complete course. After you build a solid foundation with this set, move on to more advanced Homespun guitar lesson sets.
David Hamburger is so much easier to follow than the other teachers I have tried. He teaches in a very laid back and easy going manner, and the songs that I have learned so far are fun to play. I like to watch the videos and then use the books to compliment what I have learned visually through the videos. I am happy to say that my guitar playing technique is progressing very well considering that I have no instructor other than David Hamburger on the video.
From the moment I heard the opening bars of the tune on the menu page, I was connected with this laid back host/teacher. He explains things very well, such as a bar, for the benefit of those with a sketchy music knowledge base. This is a great way to learn.
In all the lessons, I usually found something new to me or a better way of doing something. For example, a different way of holding down G, or hints on holding the pick. I did know a few basic chords but I still followed every step of his curriculum.
Hamburger’s easy lesson plans strike me as something a total beginner would be able to easily follow. It’s fun playing along with him and generally enjoying his style and playing ability.
Lap Steel Guitar.org has tons of information about guitars and lessons. This word, guitar , will get you there.
