Headphone Sennheiser RS130

Sennheiser headphones have become exceedingly popular in recent years especially their RF wireless headphone systems… Namely the Sennheiser RS130.

Unlike so many mid-priced headphones available, the Sennheiser RS130s are light and comfortable but not only on your head but around and against your ears where it counts! User-friendliness extends to easy recharging or replacement of the three AAA batteries along with its very simple intelligent auto-tuning. These headphones are so comfortable, you are going to forget you even have them on which just happens to be a good thing in my humble opinion since at some point you might end up moving about and of course there will be absolutely no messy lengthy cord to worry about.

The ear pads are made of padded foam and are covered in fabric. The headband catches a similar handling with three such pads, between which are two metallic element strips that serve as the charging contacts when you lie the headphones on the base station. Rechargeable batteries are included with the headphones and I was quite happy to see that only two AAA size are necessary. This sure enough helps with the weight of the headphones which should have a direct affect on comfort during long-term listening sessions.

For this test and review, a few of us viewed an older movie — THE GREAT ESCAPE. I just happened to have purchased it and believed it would be a suitable picture to test with the RS 130s and boy was I right! In fact, viewing THE GREAT ESCAPE with these Sennheiser headphones brought back a very fond memory of my Dad taking me to the movies when I was just a young kid. The Great Escape was the first movie I ever attended in a movie theatre and the memories of that motion picture run deep. Now I’ve seen this same movie many many times on tv since I’ve become an adult but not one of those times watching the movie made me remember the time I first watched it with my Father.

Weird I know but I totally attribute that to the sound of these wireless headphones. To put it quite simply, the sound is nothing short of STUNNING. And since I know this movie by heart and actually own the video we were watching, I even got up to go to the restroom and make some snacks for everyone with the RS130 earphones still on my head and in so doing, I could literally watch the movie in my mind. I’ve never felt anything like this before.

About the only slight problem I noted was when I was walking along a wall. This was the only time I perceived just a bit of static but it was never sufficient to take me out of the movie even though I was no longer watching the movie.

The RS130 sports Sennheiser’s own SRS Headphone virtual-surround-sound system which is compatible with two-channel audio sources. As I stated before, the RS 130s’ reception remained consistent throughout our home theater cinema experience. Most of the ‘tolerable’ wireless headphone sets I’ve researched are priced over $500 and any anything cheaper is almost always unusable. Thankfully, the Sennheiser RS130s are a solid compromise between price and quality. They won’t break the bank and enable you to truly relish your listening experience. Add their first-rate overall design and you have a very viable choice for replacing your wired headphones.
