Unfortunately, you don’t. iPod doesn’t allow songs to be taken off the device and put on a computer. There might be some software out there that lets you do that, but I have no idea what it is. If you find out what it is, tell me, ’cause I’ve been looking for it forEVER!
As far as I know, all you can do is to put all your songs on as many CD’s as it takes and upload them to your new comp.
it was only a few months ago that apple did give us a solution.
1) On your mac, go to apple.com and update your itunes
2) hook you ipod to you mac.
3) a little window should pop up asking you if you want to ignore the ipod, erase and sync or transfer purchases.
4) click on transfer purchases
you will have to supply your itunes account to play the music but the ipod will transfer all of the music and tunes to your computer. If you have any problems or need more detail feel free to email me.
