How do I transfer my music library from my Ipod Nano to a new computer with a blank Itunes library?
benitocanadian asked:
My old computer crashed and I lost all files. I don’t want to have to start from scratch. Is there any way to transfer the music from my Nano to my new computer?
I am not trying to download music from my computer to my ipod, but from my ipod to a new computer. My old computer crashed so my music is only on my ipod. I want to transfer this music to my new computer without losing the files.

((First of all, what kind of computer do you have ?))
I think you can only do that with the new ipods . . . . like, the really really new new new ipods . . . . . . . or maybe the ones that haven’t come out yet . . . . . I was watching something about Steve Jobs and Apple the other day that mentioned you could do that with the new ipods . . . . .
Imsosorry ! I don’t know . . .
go to apple.com and you can download iTunes
iPod offers multiple ways to transfer music from your computer. You can set the transfer mode in iTunes 7 or later by selecting the iPod icon in the source pane to reveal the iPod settings. The following modes can be configured on the iPod:
* Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, iTunes will offer to choose a selection of songs to sync to iPod.
* Automatically update selected playlists. With this option, iTunes automatically copies only the playlists you have selected to iPod when you connect it to the computer. This option can be selected by accessing the Music tab of the iPod settings.
* Manually manage music. You can also choose to transfer music to iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to iPod. You can find this option by accessing the Summmary tab of the iPod settings.
1) REINSTALL iTUNES. Launch the application and sign in to your itunes music store account. Don’t plug in your ipod yet.
2) INSTALL & LAUNCH a free trial of Podutil from Kennettnet Software (www.kennettnet.co.uk). The application will sit on your computer idling, displaying a waiting-for-ipods message.
3) PLUG IN YOUR iPOD. Podutil will detect it and dispaly a window that shows the files and playlists on your ipod. Click the CHOOSE button at the bottom of the Podutil, and select yoru itunes music folder. Next click the COPY SETTINGS button in the dialog box that appears. Select both ADD TRACKS to iTUNES and REBUILD PLAYLISTS. Click OK.
4) Read the DON’T STEAL MUSIC WARNING, then click the COPY butto below it.
5) WATCH AS PODUTIL COPIES your songs, videos, playlists and podcasts back to your computer and then load them into iTunes. Reauthorize your iTunes music store tracks. You are done!
