How Else Can You Use Calm Music?
It should be clear to anyone what the basic use of calm music is. For most people this is their preferred type of music to listen to after a lot of hard work. Naturally, you would tend to feel better with slow sounds than fast ones. It’s important to know though that there are now some other great ways to use slow beat tracks.
Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery
Research studies clearly point out that music in general has an impact on brain activity. The fetus can start forming its own brain five weeks after conception. This might then be a good time to keep a baby’s brain relaxed. One good way to do this is to play music close to the belly.
Pregnancy isn’t the only stage where calming music can come in handy. It would also be a great tool during labor and delivery. Painful labor and stressful delivery can cause tremendous exhaustion to mothers. Calm tones can help ease the negative feelings and sensations that are normally associated with giving birth.
Infant Care
Babies truly are wonderful little creatures but there are times when they can drive you nuts. They can cry for hours without offering any clue of what’s wrong. If you’ve checked a baby’s nappy, tried feeding it and adjusted the room temperature, then it might just be in a general state of discomfort. Playing calm music would be a good way to try to keep them relaxed and happy. For newly born infants, the toned down sound of gurgling or gushing water is specifically recommended because this will remind them of the comfort of the mother’s womb.
Stressful Work Duties
A lot of professionals work under highly stressful conditions. You might be able to ease your troubled mind and tense nerves by listening to soothing music during and after work. Some individuals actually slow down at work when they listen to slow beats. This may be good though just as long as you aren’t sleepy. Slowing down at work can improve output accuracy and work efficiency.
Clinic Appointments
A lot of individuals don’t look forward to medical or dental appointments. If you need to go to one and you are nervous about it, you might want to request the receptionist to play some calming music. A lot of clinics already do this. If your practitioner hasn’t yet discovered the benefits of soothing music, you can always bring your own sounds stored in a portable player so you can listen to them through earphones.
Slow Exercise
It goes without saying that cardiovascular exercise routines are best paired with quick, dance music. The fast beats are what you need the most to keep yourself motivated to finish the session. There are some instances though when playing slow beats are more appropriate. You need soothing tunes if you are more into slow exercise or if you are in the warm up or cool down part of your routine. Pairing fast music with slow exercise might lead to injury.
Undeniably, calm music is no longer what it used to be. Aside from personal relaxation time, there are now many more reasons for you to hold on to your slow CDs. Try some of your own tunes the next time you go to see the doctor or the next time you perform a difficult task.
