How To Copyright The Song

Copyright protection starts once the created works are protected in any tangible form. Filing the copyright in the registration office is very important for the protection of copyright. The created copyright registration shows that you had been given a copyright for a particular creative work and it cannot be used; sell by anyone without your consent of the knowledge. We can file a case against anyone who is misusing our work which is protected under copyright.

The steps involved in copyrighting a song are as detailed below: The song which is created can be protected in the form of paper, compact disk, floppy disc etc. The created song should be registered with a person who provides a stamped registration certificate. The registration certificate is supplied through copyright registration office. This certificate provides protection against the infringers. It gives the right to own the song from the day we are submitting the song. Earliest stamp protection gives the legal protection and hence no one can copy the work after it is registered.

Registration certificate of copyright will be very important in case if any infringement occurs. This is the only evidence to prove that our work is created by us and we are the creator of our work. Record label is a trademark name which is associated with the promotion of music videos and recordings.

A written music is included in the musical work which does not consist of any words. The words of a song are protected as a literary work and are called as song lyrics. The lyricist owns these rights. The graphical notation will be protected as a literary work, in case of written music. The music composer owns these rights. A person who composes music is called a music composer. Sheet music is protected as a separate copyright where it contains the physical layout of the information of the song.

A process were a sound recording is made is called as the sound recording. The recording company is the owner of the sound recording. The rights of the performers are assigned to the recording company. They own the copyright sound recording ownership.

When a recording performance of a performer is made it is necessary to get their permission accordingly. Performers have the moral rights as they are the creators of the sound recording. The performer’s right means a performance made by live performers. Performer includes a musician, dancer, entertainer, conjurer, actor, singer, snake charmer, a person delivering a lecture or any other person who makes a performance.
