I Can Draw, You Can Draw
Drawing is a kind of talents. Similar to other talents like dancing and playing sports, you need lots of practices in order to perform well. If you take a drawing class, the teacher would probably teach you the basics like how to make use of colors, but it really depends on you to master the rest.
Learning a skill often requires a lot of practices with patience, and there is no exception for drawing. To some people, drawing might come to them as a natural talent. But for most people, they often have to drill on their skills to draw well. To help you learn drawing, below are some useful tips.
1. Start with a pencil if drawing is not a familiar thing to you. This way, if you make a mistake, you can simply erase it and you do not have to start from the beginning again.
2. To practice drawing, you should start by drawing simple things. For instance, stick figures are good for you to start drawing with.
3. Use basic shapes to help physical drawings. For example, to draw a human, you could first use circles and ovals to represent body parts like the head, body, arms and legs. Then fine tune these simple shapes and add in details like fingers, hair, eyes, etc.
4. Practice by tracing over different images. This would not only help you develop your instincts on drawing, but would also help you better understand the technique of spacing.
5. Sketch a stationed object, then draw it. Practice makes perfect! Practice helps you master and strengthen your sketching skills. In order to draw better, you have to pay special attention to every single detail of the object.
If you would like to further develop your drawing skills, you can consider joining art classes. This helps you familiarize with some basic principles and techniques. As mentioned before, you need patience and practice. At a later stage, your teacher will help you out in making a right choice of choosing materials and inspire you with ideas. In addition to succeed, you need passion. You need to love what you are doing. If you are not interested in it, you won’t do well!
