Katy Perry Teenage Dream
Katy Perry somehow not only manages to create grade A pop music that forever takes the charts by storm but also is the idol of so many young teenage girls. She always shows herself to be fun and creative, spending time with her friends, making the most of her life and generally enjoying being a woman!
Her hits, such as Teenage Dream and Firework just persuade young people to go out and enjoy their youth and she even manages to get the older generation moving too! Her first record to make the charts was her second single I kissed a Girl, which reached number one in the Billboard charts and remained there for a duration of seven consecutive weeks and was declared as the tenth best selling single in the twenty first century.
She has released a total of three albums. The first, under the name of Katy Hudson, is a gospel rock album, made before her change of music genre and released in 2001. She has had two albums since then: One of the Boys, in 2008 and Teenage Dream, in 2010.
Katy Perry was born in 1984, in California. She was the child of two pastors and leant to sing in their church from a young age. Katy says that because of her religious upbringing, she was prevented from having a proper childhood, a childhood that could be classed as normal. She was however allowed to take vocal coaching lessons between the ages of nine and sixteen and later studied at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.
Even after four years, since the release of her first single Ur So Gay, she is still growing in popularity and has so far sold over ten million albums worldwide. Katy Perry is taking over the charts and lets just hope that she continues to be her sparkling self and that teenage idol we adore!
