Oasis And The Epiphone Supernova

Nothing screams rock and roll much more than a guitar that features the guitarists personal name and brand name of one of the greatest bands or artists. Custom unique signature models are a very important part of any guitar designers selection and gives greater credibility and influence from the stars of today and yesterday that play and recommend their instrument. It is also an important part of the overall marketing campaign of the company – but it is an excellent way of selling more instruments.

Manufactured in Korea, the Epiphone Supernova electric guitar is the personal model from Noel Gallagher from the rock band Oasis – the biggest, inspiring, press worthy and best pop bands of the past 20 years. Noel is the brains that backs Oasis, whist his brother Liam is the larger than life front man, featuring heavily in the eye of the press and certainly infamous for his loud personality, fighting and general OTT star credentials. Oasis are most well known for tunes such as Wonderwall and Shakermaker and their brand of BritPop and guitar rock still stands the test of time and is still influential to todays stars. Oasis are more mellow now and not as quite as popular, Oasis are still producing amazing albums under the direction of Noel – who reports he plans to release a solo album in the near future.

The 95′ Epiphone Supernova is a specially designed version of the Sheraton guitar, another of Epiphones more popular guitars. Although, the Supernova you can get today is not the same one as the one used by Oasis though. During the promotion of the Oasis album, Whats The Story Morning Glory, Noel was pictured and filmed with a unique Epiphone Sheraton covered with the British flag. Designed to represent that actual guitar, the public version of this guitar has a different shape, style and a few minor amendments such as having different models of pickup’s, Alnico 57s rather than mini humbucker pickups which are found in the original. The original model played by Noel is displayed in the O2 arena in London as part of the British Music Experience exhibition.

The %KEYWORD1% is not made any longer but was made in several different colors including the famous signature union jack model designed by Noel. The other colors were sky blue to represent the Manchester City soccer team that the band follows, Cherry Red and a hard to find Ebony Black version. The guitar features large block fret markers, a slim and long scale neck, a rosewood fret-board, a vintage tremolo, a laminated body which makes it easy to use and much better to play. The pick guard has Noel’s signature on and features the Epiphone brand image.

The %KEYWORD1% generates warm tones that are suitable for jazz, rock and blues. Although it sounds quite a little like a more expensive Gibson guitar, the %KEYWORD1% will give you the sound you need. The build quality is excellent and should be without manufacturing issues.

The %KEYWORD1% is a good guitar and well worth buying – even more so if you also enjoy Oasis!
