Pro Tone Chorus Stompbox
There are effects pedals which sound much like other effects pedals. And then there is uniqueness lies in its successful attempt to reproduce the sounds of its namesake, Paul Raven.
Not seen in the industry prior to this particular stompbox was the thick, full bodied fuzz chugging away beneath the sound of the chorus. There was no other effects pedal which allowed the rigorous tone shaping required by a Journeyman of Raven standards.
As if there wasn’t enough support already for tonal flexibility, there is the Chop Chop switch which is essentially the ability for the lush chorus to be converted into a slurred vibrato and with just one flick of a toggle switch. There is no similar feature on the market today.
In an effort to reproduce Paul Raven’s dual role (he was a producer as well as a bass player), the Pro Tone Raven Effects Pedal is a bass guitar effects pedal as well as a typical effects pedal. The bass frequency is modified by the Kaw switch which makes for a great deal of flexibility not only in the recording studio but also on stage.
But what makes this effects pedal stand out more than anything else is the artwork which Raven worked on with esteemed artist Fleix LaFlamme. The artwork is as show stopping as the sound made by the instrument itself. However due to excessive production time spent on the Deluxe Raven, its numbers are limited and available only via special order. Due to the highly-specified design and complex building process, the waiting time for this model is up to four months. For those who are lucky enough to be in possession of one, they almost certainly feel it was worth the wait.
