One of the most widely used office tools is the rubber stamp. In this crazy world where everything is instant and digital many people don’t think that rubber stamps are useful. Those individuals believe that you can simply use other devices to get the same effect a rubber stamp has, making the rubber stamp obsolete. But on the contrary rubber stamps have many designs and functions that many different people can benefit from using in any setting. Not just in the office.

There are 3 different models for rubber stamps which are hand held rubber stamps, pre-inked rubber stamps, and self inking rubber stamps. Hand held rubber stamps are the oldest form of rubber stamps. It has been around for centuries and is mainly purchased for nostalgia or decoration. To make a hand held stamp mark you have to press the stamp against the ink pad and then press it against the surface you want the mark on. Pre-inked rubber stamps and self inking rubber stamps work differently. A pre-inked stamp doesn’t require an ink pad as the stamp itself is very absorbent. You apply the ink once to the stamp and it will last for hundreds or marks before it will need a refill. A self inking rubber stamp has a mechanism inside which applies ink to the stamp with each usage. When a person presses against the handle the stamp is inked and your surface gets marked in one simple motion.

Office workers usually utilize address, endorsement and signature stamps for corporate use. Secretaries and accountants can use an address stamp to label large quantities of envelopes to mail. They can also use endorsement rubber stamps to label all business paper work with the company name/logo. Signature stamps are usually used by people who are higher up. They are constantly signing documents, which can cause a strain in their hand and wrist. Using a signature stamp they are saving time and preventing injury.

Artists and other creative types of people use custom stamps. An artist can easily mark their art work for sale or for exhibits. Others can create a custom stamp to personalize household or everyday items. Outside the office people can still use an address stamp to mail letters and a signature stamp to sign documents quickly at home.

Despite what many tech junkies believe the rubber stamp still has a place in today’s society. Similarly they have more functions outside the office environment. You can mail birthday cards, mark a painting, or even sign a check utilizing a rubber stamp.
