Rythem And Blues Music: An Enormous Part Of Our Existence Will Stand The Test Of Time

What would our lives be like without our favorite tunes? How boring would it be just to watch TV and not hear your favorite theme song? We hear music in so many places and situations it’s easy to just ignore it, but what if it wasn’t there? When you turn on the radio, your favorite song may spill out. But, if it doesn’t, just surf your channels and you will find something to match your mood.

I probably appreciate Country Music more than any other genre of music. I think it is because I can relate to it so easily. I can not count the times that I needed a good country song to help me through a break up, a setback, etc. And, sometimes, a good upbeat country song like Luke Brian’s “Rain Is A Good Thing” is just the lift I need.

In college, I took a course in music appreciation. Now I am not going to sit here and say it was the best course I have ever taken, but I did have a better understanding of classical music and more importantly how we got to where we are today. Classical music is moving in the right setting or on a quite evening at home with your girl.

In addition to Country Music, I am a big fan of the Top 40, currently with Ryan Seacrest. On the Top 40, you will find upbeat pop music. VH1 and MTV normally play Top 40 hits. In the Atlanta area, there are several really great Top 40 driven radio stations. There are always several hits in the mix that I enjoy finding on the radio on my way to work.

American Idol has definitely changed the music industry. There are thousands of people who try out every season with only a handful making it through. But think about this. What if Carrie Underwood had never tried out? What if Daughtry had a bad performance on the first round and never even made into the competition. Another thought is that there must be thousands more super talented artists out there who will never be noticed. For this reason, I am a hug American Idol Fan. American Idol is making dreams come true and giving the rest of us some really great music to listen to.

Being a huge Country Music Fan, it may be hard to believe I like a little Rap Music ever now and again. It is because I have such an appreciation for what they do. If you don’t believe me, just try to rap anything and see what it sounds like. To “rap music” is dang hard to say the least.. My favorite rapper is Eminem. He has a powerful message and he brings it in a way no other can replicate. He broke through all the barriers to get to where he is today so I respect him for that too.

So, if you have been listening to the same stuff for years why not try something new, strange or unusual. If you don’t like it you can turn it in the blink of an eye. However, I challenge you to see the song through and focus on the lyrics or talents of the artist.

So, go back to the beginning. What would our world be like without music? It is hard to imagine. Just think about going to church and not having the old time greats like Amazing Grace. Music moves our souls and lifts our spirits. I for one appreciate music and hope this article will get you to thinking about the impact music has had on your own life.

Look, here are hundreds of great articles about music. If you are all about music then you will need to try our listings.
