State Your Case With A Vintage Rock T-Shirt
The music business goes in cycles and that means that what was once old is now new again. There are various triggers that can cause a resurgence of certain types of music and the fans of the resurging music always take the opportunity to show their pride in their favorite forms of music by bringing out the t-shirts they used to wear that show their favorite bands.
At first it seemed as though hip hop would be the musical choice of kids for generations to come but underneath all of the rhyming and the rhythms were the music of vintage bands that were sampled and used by hip hop artists. For a very long time the younger people that were listening to hip hop had no idea that they were actually listening to a riff by Aerosmith or a sample that was originally done by Journey. That was until Guitar Hero and other video games came out.
Games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band depended on vintage classic rock as their background music; all at once young people could identify the makers of this sound, introducing them to a new music genre termed “classic” rock, which they fell for right off the bat.
It was not long before the video game companies started offering more songs for kids to buy and add to their Guitar Hero catalog and, for the most part, these were classic rock songs. The parents saw this and started breaking out their vintage rock t-shirts to wear because their kids now found classic rock to be appealing just like the parents did when they were younger. The kids saw the parents wearing vintage rock t-shirts, they saw the characters on the Guitar Hero video game wearing them, and they decided they wanted them to.
Generally as a group launches a new album release, their t-shirts begin selling, along with the back catalog of their songs. Picture taking this principle and multiplying it by all the classic rock groups out there, and you can see the upswing in sales of vintage rock t-shirts. With the launch of these video games it was as if all the guitar heavy classic rock had reemerged, and all at once t-shirts and CDs were selling like hotcakes.
As the new generation of kids begins to rediscover parts of their parents’ childhoods, it signals a revival for some of what the older generation reveres. Guitar Hero has succeeded in returning classic rock to the forefront, and kids today are sporting vintage rock t-shirts depicting groups from a couple decades back. Young people are purchasing the songs and also discovering affection for vinyl records, causing their own revival.
Who could have forecast that the identical thing parents griped about for years is the means of bringing their memories of youth to their own children. For a long time parents believed that video games were destroying their kid’s generation, but with video games revitalizing interest in classic rock and vintage rock t-shirts, many are reconsidering this opinion.
Hip hop probably won’t be disappearing from the music industry, but it is kind of funny to see the former DMX t-shirt kids listening to classic rock and sporting vintage rock t-shirts. Guitar Hero and similar games are just one example of how iconic bands and singers of previous generations can reemerge in a new, trendy outlet of current generations. It’s hard to say how, but undoubtedly someone will ensure that vintage classic rock t-shirts will make a surge among the youth of the world again.
