Heroes are not born, heroes are made goes a popular saying. Tell that to a mall security guard who faces off with a group of sophisticated robbers. This is the backbone of the plot of Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie. The story revolves around Paul Blart who is the security guard at a shopping mall. The character is played by Kevin James who is remembered for his excellent portrayal of Doug Heffernan in popular sitcom The King of Queens. Paul Blart is attracted by an employee in a shop for hair extensions played by Jayma Mays. He tries his best to woo her but fails to do so. He is portrayed as someone who doesnt find luck in his life and is thus, terribly depressed. A bank robbery gives him a good opportunity to prove his salt and sweep his love off her feet. What follows is the faceoff between the cop and evil bank robbers.

The basic storyline promises to be a hilarious ride for the watcher but it disappoints with its bad handling of the script. The supposed to be humorous scenes in Paul Blart: Mall Cop Movie do not tickle your funny bones. The most important aspect of comedy is timing, and this is where the movie fails. The performances by the lead actors are satisfactory though a lot more can be expected of them. Kevin James tries his best to add some energy to the sagging movie but is not fully successful at it. Jayma Mays does justice to whatever little role that has been offered to her. The director Steve Carr does a decent job with the screenplay but the script pulls down any good work done by him. The writers Kevin James and Nick Bakay could have done a better job though they seem to have made good use of the interesting main plot.

This movie is for Paul Blart fans that are willing to watch the entire movie. The box office collections in the first week do not augur well for the movie.
