Ways To Maintain The Whiteness of Your Sofa
Are you annoyed seeing your sofa so untidy? Or is your white sofa turning into something gloomy and depressing? Nobody wants to see a white sofa that is not white at all. It is so unpleasant to the eyes when we see sofas that are dirty and grimy. But, how do you keep your white sofa clean? Here are some ways to keep your white sofa free from dirt.
The first thing you need to do is to use remove all the cushions or pillows on your sofa. Then use the vacuum cleaner to remove dust and other dirt from your sofa. Vacuum carefully all the edges and flat surface of your sofa. Vacuuming will prevent staining your sofa during cleaning.
Next is to remove right away stains or blots present on your sofa. Do not let stains stay for a long time because this may be hard to remove and may settle permanently. Use a moist cloth when removing a newly stained area. However, if wine or coffee was spilled on your sofa, wipe it with dry cloth as soon as possible.
If there is still left behind, use a mixture of baking soda with water until it becomes sticky. Apply the sticky baking soda onto the stained area and leave it for a few minutes. Then, dab it out. Fresh red wine stains are usually removed by using salt. For grease or any kind of oil, use cornstarch to removes traces of stains.
Foam cleaners are produced by mixing ? cup of powder detergent and water at least ? cup. Make sure that you use white powder detergent since your sofa is white. Whip them to form a foamy stuff until it is already sticky. However, if your foam cleaner is too gluey, pour water on it. On the other hand, if your foam is too watery, then put in a little more powder.
Get a cloth and damp it with foam cleaner. Start wiping your sofa for about 12 to 24 inches area. Then, wipe it with another slightly wet clean cloth to remove the foam. Repeat this on your whole sofa. Using foam cleaner does not only remove stains, but it also eliminates any unpleasant odor existing on your sofa.
Never let your sofa contact any dirt when still wet or you might find yourself cleaning the whole sofa over again. It usually takes 48 hours in order to dry your sofa totally. Vacuum again the sofa only if it is completely dry. It is improper to vacuum your sofa when it is still wet because you may unintentionally get your sofa dirty again.
To maintain the gorgeousness of your sofa, never use strong cleaning liquid or powder as foam cleaners. These substances may harm the color and the fabric of your sofa. Use only smooth rags in cleaning your sofa to prevent scratches. Also, never use a hard scrubbing technique in cleaning your sofa because they may produce permanent scratch marks.
No doubt that cleaning a sofa is not an easy job, especially a white one. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to produce a clean sofa. However, seeing a dirt-free and spotless white sofa is refreshing and looks wonderful to the eyes.
