I Am The Law by Anthrax
In the case of this song just because it’s Bad—, and it’s about a cool fictional character, Judge Dredd
And Justice For All by Metallica
A Perfect commentary on the sad state of the US Judicial System and a killer Thrash Song
Hallowed Be They Name by Iron Maiden
The Hanging Tree by Uriah Heep
Gallows Pole by Led Zeppelin
Hangman Hang My Shell On A Tree by Spooky Tooth
I Cheat The Hangman by The Doobie Brothers
I have a particular affinity for songs about with imagery about hanging or the hangman or gallows and I don’t really know why, lol.
Breaking The Law by Judas Priest
There’s a shake Your fist and scream anthem if there ever was one.
Outlaw by Whitesnake
Probably My favorite song about the outlaw lifestyle ever written. And oddly enough, the only Whitesnake song Dave Coverdale doesn’t sing lead on.
Inside Looking Out by Grand Funk Railroad
One great Prison Song and an early Proto-Metal Guitar workout
Truckin’ by the Grateful Dead…. seems like a few of their songs have to do with running from or otherwise getting away from THE MAN
“Busted, down on Bourbon Street
Set-up, like a rolling pin
Knocked out – it gets to wearing thin
They just won’t let you be-eeeeee”
For me the appeal is the age-old wanting to be free / get away with whatever I’m wanting to get away with / pull one over on the establishment…
hahahahhaa most of my favorite songs are against the law
those anarcho punks are mysterious
anarchy in the UK
baby, im an anarchist
notes on pulling the sky down
sunset on 32nd
fuck police brutality
social suicide
Through the best of times,
Through the worst of times,
Through Nixon and through Bush,
Do you remember ’36?
We went our seperate ways.
You fought for Stalin.
I fought for freedom.
You believe in authority.
I believe in myself.
I’m a molotov cocktail.
You’re Dom Perignon.
Baby, what’s that confused look in your eyes?
What I’m trying to say is that
I burn down buildings
While you sit on a shelf inside of them.
You call the cops
On the looters and piethrowers.
They call it class war,
I call it co-conspirators.
‘Cause baby, I’m an anarchist,
You’re a spineless liberal.
We marched together for the eight-hour day
And held hands in the streets of Seattle,
But when it came time to throw bricks
Through that Starbucks window,
You left me all alone.
EDIT: smooth criminal is a michael jackson song. alien ant farm covered it. and imo they butchered it.
“I fought the law (and the law won)” by Bobby Fuller (Orignal)
Edit: Does “I shot the sheriff” by Bob Marley count as law and order theme?
I fought the Law – The Clash
Breaking the Law – Judas Priest
Gallow’s Pole – Led Zeppelin
Police Truck – The Dead Kennedies
Smooth Criminal – Alien Ant Farm
cant really think of any but in the song fu*king hostile by pantera i like this bit
The truth in right and wrong
The boundaries of the law
You seem to miss the point
Arresting for a joint?
You seem to wonder why
Hundreds of people die
Youre writing tickets man
My mom got jumped — they ran!
Now Ill play a public servant
To serve and protect
By the law and the state
Id bust the punks
That **** steal and murder
And leave you be
If you crossed me
Id shake your hand like a man
Not a god
Jailbreak by AC/DC
Jailbreak by Think Lizzy
-both of these kind of speak to a rebellious nature, danger and escape (albeit with a bullet in the back in the AC/DC song)
30 Days in the Hole by Humble Pie
Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash
-both of these have a nice bluesy take that makes you think they know a thing or two about it
Hmmm…
‘I Fought the Law’ ~ The Clash
‘Black Angel’ ~ The Cult
‘Jailbreak’ ~ Thin Lizzy
‘MacPherson’s Rant’ ~ Old Blind Dogs
‘Gallows Pole’ ~ Led Zeppelin
‘Hanging Tree’ ~ Blackmore’s Night
