what do i need to ask if someone wants to use my poem as song lyrics?

just found out a musician heard me reading a poem i wrote and would like to turn it into a song. how do i protect my lyrics and myself, make sure if he’s making money off of it, i do, etc… what questions do i ask? thanks!
