You Tube Acoustic Blues Guitar Lessons – The Best Features
When starting out to look for those ideal lessons for guitar, many people used to try the big ‘G’, and ‘Google it’. More and more searches for all kinds of things are made on Youtube’s video site, in fact it’s the second most used search engine after Google itself. Like Google, the number of items shown for a search such as ‘blues guitar lessons’ is impressive – what is the best way to determine the lessons that’s best for you? Youtube guitar lessons feature all kinds of formats and teaching levels, both paid and for free.
Many of the big boys in selling guitar lessons have developed a really slick selling format that employ many forms of psychological hooks to get you to pay. Barely a beginner? No problem – you’ll be playing like a professional in 3 days. Intermediate player? We’ll take you to the next level. Experienced player? This course will turn you into Eric Clapton, and you get the picture. One of my favorites is the ubiquitous advert ‘The 3 Awful Mistakes That Most Guitarists Make”, or something of that style, which is almost difficult to resist, it must be admitted. In reality, playing above average guitar means a lot of application, dedication and time. Of course, the whole process can be made easier with clear instruction and faithful blues guitar tabs.
Guitar tablature is the basis of the best guitar lessons. It doesn’t have to be super complicated in the least, with just elementary notation showing finger positions and chord diagrams. Some tablature just goes way over the top, attempting to convey the feel and style of authentic blues picking, which it can’t possible do! This brings us to the next characteristic of great blues guitar lessons – the instructor must be able to play the stuff to a high level (and the tablature should adequately indicate what he does.)
Guitar tablature by itself isn’t enough to explain that delicate pause, or the bass that is slightly behind the beat when needed to complement the words. Of course, the tablature system can indicate that a single thumb strike is muted or damped with the palm of the hand, but can’t show that the damping effect itself is never constant, but changes in intensity as the pressure of the palm on the strings is continuously being changed according to the style of the song.
There’s no need to hurry when looking for any instruction, of any kind. The Chinese have a saying ‘a year spent doing nothing but finding the right instructor is time well spent’. That’s about right. You might not need to spend a year in your quest, but make your choice with care and side-step all the hype. Don’t expect to improve in just a few short days weeks, relax, don’t be hard on yourself and above all, savor the music and the travel.
Guitar tablature is the best short cut for learning traditional blues guitar.
